What're thoughts on digital cameras? Worth keeping in the kit? Would the photos do event promoters/admins any good? Where would the photos be posted/stored?
Legal Issues: From a legal standpoint; I want to know if the fields we play on are considered public or private property. I know people are all about action shots and stuff - but what if they refuse to have their photo taken by an admin for a violation of safety/sportsmanship? What if the admin photographs anyway?
If it's private property - we may run into a legal issue if someone really raises a stink about it. I really don't think people should have an expectation of privacy at these events - but you never know some of these rich kids may have a pet lawyer their mommy or daddy keeps around. A smart person may argue it's against the "Data Protection Act" However in Section 1 part 3 of DPA - specifically exempts 'special purpose' photographs or other data recorded for journalism - which we could consider.
If it's a Premises open to the public - If on the day of the game the property is considered "Open to the Public" everybody is fair game despite what their feelings are. There is absolutely no expectation of privacy on public property or premises open to the public.
I'm no lawyer so you guys may be smarter about this than me - I'm just trying to think like an a-hole player that we may have to deal with if we use cameras. We may need to consult with field owners beforehand on this.
